Let's connect:
Hi, I'm Brenda.
My professional career has taken many twists and turns, leading me to five states and innumerable skill-building experiences along the way. Through it all, my two biggest takeaways are to take chances and to welcome challenges.

I deliver value as a precise writer and communication strategist who innately understands the impact of authentic storytelling, transparent and proactive messaging and making complex concepts relatable. I’ve conceptualized, socialized and launched new communication channels through blogs, social media, videos and podcasts.

I advocate for audiences’ informational needs while upholding the mission and objectives of my organization’s brand. My years of experience as a journalist also make me a nimble communicator with the ability to process, triage, synthesize and accurately deliver key information.

I'm a certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, Prosci Change Practitioner and Change Management Specialist and also earned a specialization certificate in Managerial Economics and Business Analysis.

PHILOSOPHY
Silence is not a strategy
Don't wait to tell your story before someone else does. Information vacuums are quickly filled with speculation, misinterpretation or even deliberate misinformation. When organizations or leaders remain silent during critical moments, they surrender control of their narrative to voices who may not represent their values or intentions.
Proactive communication establishes credibility, builds trust and positions you as the authoritative source on matters concerning your brand or organization. By strategically crafting and distributing your message first, you can frame the conversation, address concerns directly and demonstrate transparency—all essential elements in maintaining stakeholder confidence. In the absence of your voice, others will gladly speak for you and rarely with your best interests in mind.
Words and actions must match
Every touchpoint between an organization and its stakeholders must demonstrate consistency between stated values and observable behaviors. When messaging contradicts reality, audiences develop communication skepticism that damages reputation and erodes brand trust. It’s paramount to ensure message-behavior alignment across all channels. This requires close collaboration with leadership so commitments are operationally feasible and genuinely embraced at all organizational levels.
The most effective communication strategies include accountability mechanisms and transparent reporting that demonstrate how rhetoric translates into measurable action. Companies that master this alignment build reputational resilience, while those that neglect it face diminishing returns on communication investments regardless of creative execution or channel optimization.
Build bridges and not walls
At its core, effective communication is all about connection, shifting conflict, when it exists, into consensus through engagement and dialogue. Rather than allowing disagreements to create division, tensions can be opportunities to forge stronger relationships and better outcomes. Listen to opposing perspectives without judgment, ask clarifying questions that demonstrate commitment to understanding. These bridge-builders strategically highlight shared interests and values that exist beneath surface disagreements, creating common ground from which collaboration can grow.
Instead of eliminating differences, reframe them as complementary strengths through inclusive language, transparent information-sharing and well-timed compromises to craft solutions where everyone feels heard and valued, turning potential deadlocks into pathways for collective progress.
Move from information to influence

Logic makes you think, but emotion makes you act. While well-reasoned arguments and data can persuade the intellectual mind to acknowledge a truth, they often fall short of inspiring meaningful action.
Emotion, whether hope, fear, desire or empathy, provides the essential spark that transforms knowledge into committed behavior. Skilled communicators and leaders recognize this duality, first building a logical foundation that satisfies our rational minds, then connecting those facts to emotional drivers that compel us forward. This explains why stories and personal narratives can often drive change more effectively than statistics alone. Create an emotional link between information and action to help people not just understand what should be done, but actually feel motivated to do it.
